Welcome to the Consumer Data Standards blog!

The Australian Government appointed Data61 as technical advisor to the Data Standards Body within its proposed Consumer Data Right regime – tasked with delivering open technical standards that empower consumers to share their data simply and safely with organisations of their choosing, starting in the banking sector.

The work on technical standards is supported by an interim Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee, spanning representatives from the financial sector, FinTechs, consumer groups, energy and telecommunications representatives and software vendors, has been appointed for a period of 12 months commencing in July 2018. Its role has been guiding and providing feedback on the development of the technical standards, while rules and legislation are developed in parallel.

The Consumer Data Standards program is supported by four open work streams, sharing feedback and progress with the broader Australian and international community. The work streams are:

  • API Standards
  • Information Security
  • Engineering
  • Consumer Experience

In this Blog, we will keep you posted on our progress to date across the four streams including development updates, upcoming briefing sessions and workshops plus general updates.

If you would like to participate in any of our discussions across the four streams or provide any other feedback, you can do so via GitHub or email to cdr-data61@csiro.au.

The Consumer Data Standards Team have a very busy year ahead and we look forward to your continued participation and support!
